Katrina was educated at Longfield Secondary School in Kent, where she first became aware of her interests and talents in motor vehicle engineering, leaving with an A grade GCSE in this subject. she was to return to Longfield School many years later as head of department, teaching motor vehicle and technology.
Age 16 Katrina attended a full time City & Guilds course in motor vehicle engineering at North West Kent College in Gravesend she was awarded student of the year and again would return many years later as a lecturer in motor vehicle technology.
She continued in this line of work doing an apprenticeship with Star Motors Sevenoaks (vauxhual main dealership)
Katrina always had an interest in Bikes and Quads, both for fun and in her earlier years for competition.
Katrina moved her family to Southern Spain ten years ago, in search of a better life.
She continued to pass on her skills in motor vehicle as well as building her own house, and running her own business as a welder, all whilst supporting and raising her three children Rhys 20 Danielle 13 and 6 year old Jose Alberto single handily.
So Katrina could be described as a very determined, strong willed very independent and capable individual.
Katrina doted on her grandmother LILLIAN SKINNER who was a rock in her not so stable upbringing. She was the one person who she could really rely on, who never ever let her down. The bond between them was so strong that Katrina was devastated following her unexpected death from lung cancer on 9th October 2008. Shortly after she decided that nans memory was to live on!! and prepared herself to make a journey of a lifetime, in the name of her grandmother LILLIAN SKINNER and cancer charities, making a difference to someone else's life as nan would have wanted that...so in loving memory of the best grandmother anyone could have wished for, on 9th October 2010 she and a friend will be leaving for TIMBUKTU.

Most of her career was in Advertising, Marketing and Promotions, alongside of this she raised her children Matthew & James Dalby.
Margo was an active sportswoman from a young age who still enjoys a variety of activities including scuba diving, skiing, water-skiing, sailing, yoga, dance aerobics and of course Quad Biking.
Now divorced and living in Spain for a number of years and a change of career, having her Diplomas in Beauty Management, alongside of this renovating the Finca she owns, much of the work being carried out by herself.
Margo is a strong, independent and capable woman who can turn her hand to most things that crop up in life. Her mother JOAN PORRETT also a strong independent woman and the king-pin of the family who lost her struggle against CANCER on 30th June 2002 after a seemingly endless fight against the disease that she fought so valiantly.
So in memory of her mother, Margo is now going to undertake a journey from Spain to Timbuktu with her friend Katrina to raise funds for the Macmillan Nurses and Cancer Hospices.
We now ask everyone who sees this to donate something...every little helps..almost everyone that you talk to has come into contact one way or another with this killer disease. Margo and Katrina are leaving their comfort zone to do something about it, all we ask of you is to put your hand in your pocket and think that one day this could help someone in your own family.
